Dear Colleagues, Members of the ESCP

It is my great pleasure to invite you to the ESCP’s 19th Scientific Annual Meeting, which will take place on 25-27 September 2024 in Thessaloniki, Greece.

If you are truly a colorectal surgeon, a surgeon with special interest in colorectal surgery, or any related healthcare practitioner, this meeting is a must for you. The exciting scientific programme includes cutting edge topics in colorectal surgery, which balances well-known key opinion leaders and young stars, joining us from around the world. Our ESCP committees have worked tirelessly to provide the best scientific, educational research and guidelines content, resulting in a high-quality programme that will be of great interest to all participants.

This meeting is also a great opportunity to interact with your colleagues who share the same professional and personal interests, as well as with our colleagues from industry. The programme allows plenty of time for networking and includes several interesting industry symposia.

The ESCP held its annual meeting in Dublin, Ireland in 2022, and in Vilnius, Lithuania last year. Both were great successes, with a high rate of satisfaction as reflected in the attendees’ feedback. Few issues required some improvement, and the ESCP Executive and related committees have worked hard to make this year’s conference even better. Our members deserve nothing but the best, and we expect a superb meeting.

For those of you who unfortunately will not be able to attend in person, we will broadcast the meeting this year in virtual format as well. I urge everyone to participate in person, but if you can’t, please join us online.

I personally look forward to seeing each of you this September.

Oded Zmora, ESCP President

ESCP Programme Director

Dear Colleagues and Esteemed Members

As the Programme Director of the European Society of Coloproctology (ESCP), it is my distinct pleasure and honour to extend a warm invitation to each of you for our Annual Meeting, set in the vibrant and historic city of Thessaloniki from 25-27 September in 2024. This year's conference is not merely an event, but a transformative experience, meticulously designed to be innovative, friendly, and scientifically enriching.

Building on the success and invaluable feedback from our previous meeting, we have dedicated ourselves to crafting a programme that not only addresses the areas of improvement but also sets a new standard for scientific gatherings. Our theme for this year, 'Innovating for a Global Future in Coloproctology', reflects our commitment to embracing global perspectives and cutting-edge research.

Our revamped programme structure is a testament to our dedication to excellence and inclusivity. Breaking away from the traditional format, we are introducing a more intimate and focused setting for discussions, ensuring that every participant has the opportunity to engage and contribute meaningfully. The sessions are designed to facilitate in-depth dialogue, fostering an environment where innovation and collaboration are at the forefront.

We are particularly proud of our commitment to gender and geographical diversity and inclusivity. A balanced representation of speakers has been a priority, and we are honoured to uphold a 50:50 gender balance. Moreover, we are spotlighting the young, emerging minds in coloproctology, whose innovative research and fresh perspectives are vital to the continuous evolution of our field.

Thessaloniki's rich cultural heritage and warm hospitality provide the ideal setting for our meeting. It is the perfect environment to stimulate creative thought, foster lasting professional relationships, and enjoy the camaraderie that is so characteristic of our society.

Recognising the global nature of our community, we have also ensured that participants who are unable to join us in person can connect and contribute through a comprehensive virtual component, seamlessly integrated with our physical sessions. All speakers and chairs are requested to be on site in Thessaloniki, in order to ensure vibrant and lively interaction.

We eagerly look forward to welcoming you to Thessaloniki for the 19th Annual Meeting of the ESCP. Your presence, insights, and active participation are crucial to the success of our meeting and the advancement of our field. Together, let us make this event a milestone in the journey of coloproctology, setting new benchmarks for scientific excellence and collaborative success.
