Survey Invitation to Patients and Surgeons
The ESCP Programme Committee has the pleasure of inviting patients with pilonidal disease, rectal cancer or perianal fistula in Crohn’s disease and their surgeons to participate in an anonymous multilingual online survey.
This 5-10 min online survey is in preparation for the PROM* session at:
Vilnius 2023 Annual Meeting
Thursday 28 September, 11:30-13:00
Plenary & Parallel Session 1, Conference Room 3
*PROM = Patient Reported Outcome Measurements
Aims
- To investigate patients' preferences in terms of treatment outcomes and to inverstigate surgeons' perception of patient preferences.
- To cast some light on how well patients feel informed about their surgery and how actively surgeons involve them in the choice of treatment options.

The survey is available in 15 languages: Danish, Dutch, English, French, German, Greek, Hungarian, Italian, Lithuanian, Norwegian, Polish, Slovenian, Spanish, Swedish and Turkish.

Ethical approval
As this is a completely anonymous survey, ethical approval is not required.
However, ethical approval is required in some countries for surgeons to approach their patients directly with the invitation. In this case invitations may only be distributed to patients through patient organisations. This applies for the UK and possibly other countries, but does not apply to Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Hungary, Lithuania, Norway, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey and possibly other countries.
Please feel free to share this invitation or the flyer (downloadable in 15 languages below) with any patient you know who has been or will be treated for the above mentioned diagnoses and with any surgeons who treat these diagnoses. As a treating surgeon, please check regulations for ethical approval of your country before inviting patients directly!
Presentation of results
Some results will be presented during the PROM session at the ESCP Annual Meeting in Vilnius, 27-29 September. The full results will hopefully be published in an article (depending on the responses), alternatively on this website.
