Overview
EAGLE 2 is a snapshot audit of patients undergoing right sided bowel anastomosis, but restricted to units who undertake the EAGLE online training. This training may have already been done (as part of the first EAGLE study), or surgeons in participating EAGLE2 teams complete prior to beginning the audit.
A key finding from the EAGLE study was that in centres where most surgeons undertook the training, the anastomotic leak rate fell by almost 50%. EAGLE2 will help to grow engagement across as many hospitals as possible, so that we can validate this finding. EAGLE2 is open to hospitals who participated in the original EAGLE study as well as new hospitals. Units who undertake the EAGLE online training prior to data collection can take part.
Dates
Participating centres will collect data for 8-weeks. There are 3 data collection windows, centres can choose their own start date on any date between:
- Data collection window 1: Pick a start date between 3 and 16 June
- Data collection window 2: Pick a start date between 22 July and 4 August
- Data collection window 3: Pick a start date between 9 and 22 September
