Applications for KSCP Fellowship are now closed. Deadline for JSPC Fellowship application is 28 June.
The European Society of Coloproctology (ESCP) is once again be offering its Travelling Fellowships to Korea and Japan.
Application deadlines for the 2019 Fellowships, which are again organised in partnership with the Japan Society of Coloproctology (JSCP) and the Korean Society of Coloproctology (KSCP), are imminent. Both initiatives are renowned and proven educational training programmes designed to fuel global collaboration and the professional development of young surgeons.
The successful applicants will be able to travel to Korea or Japan this autumn where they will learn from skilled surgeons and observe a high-volume of quality colorectal surgery and variations in clinical practices. In addition, they will benefit from the exchange of knowledge and ideas and the opportunity to immerse themselves in a different culture, forming new connections and friendships along the way.
Gaetano Gallo, JSCP Travelling Fellow in 2018, reflects on his educational experience:
“The Fellowship is a unique and educational experience and I would strongly recommend it. It allows the recipient to visit several referral centres in a short period of time, learning from several colorectal experts.
“I lived in an environment full of hospitality and culture in central Tokyo and had the opportunity to make several new friends and for a young surgeon, that is as important as attending a perfect surgical operation.”
Muhammed Imran Aslam, Chair of the ESCP Fellowship Committee, said:
“The Travelling Fellowship is an integral part of ESCP’s efforts to improve education in coloproctology and to support trainees in the learning, observation and implementation of clinical practices. Over the last six years, we’re thrilled to report that successful candidates have visited 31 centres in 13 different countries under the ESCP Fellowship Programme.”
