ESCP has a new initiative to develop patient engagement in colorectal surgical research. Through a pan-European engagement of surgeons and patients across Europe, we will address the institutional and cultural challenges of running international trials.
The ESCP has invited five patient representatives to its annual conference in Berlin 20-22 September 2017. The patients will be invited to contribute to a panel discussion about how best to involve patients in the development, delivery and dissemination of research into improving care in colorectal surgery.
Visitors to the conference will be welcomed to a debate at 11:20 on 22 September 2017 with a panel of leading researchers and representatives from patient groups.
Patients, families and carers are an important and valuable part of modern research, helping to ensure that studies are delivered in ways that are acceptable and meaningful to participants. We seek to improve care through research with today's patients, to the benefit of future patients.
