This masterclass took place on 12 September 2024 as the first scientific day of the biannual joint Congress of the Hungarian Society of Surgeons Chapter of Endoscopic and Robotic Surgery and the Chapter of Coloproctology. The main theme of the masterclass was 'Safe Surgical Technique'. 

The Hungarian Society of Surgeons, Chapter of Coloproctology (President: Dr József Baracs) and Chapter of Endoscopic and Robotic Surgery (President: Dr Balázs Bánky) along with the ESCP (delegated consultant: Dr Claus Anders Bertelsen, Denmark) organised an ESCP Masterclass on colorectal cancer surgery, 12 September 2024.

Four distinguished European expert speakers and four Hungarian experts gave thematic lectures:

Two morning sessions, each 90 minutes, worked up technical and evidence-based aspects of complete mesocolic excision (CME), while two sessions discussed the different technical approaches of minimally invasive total mesorectal excision (TME) including laparoscopy, transanal approaches and robotic surgery. In addition, the current evidences of lateral lymph node dissection were explored. Finally, controversial cases were discussed by the invited expert panel in a 'Consultants’ Corner' format.

The scientific meeting was concluded with great success and with a fantastic evening reception ball.
