Don’t miss the opportunity to apply for the European Board of Surgical Qualification (EBSQ) Examination, the only qualification in the sub-speciality of coloproctology within Europe that provides surgeons with the chance to demonstrate their specialist skills and competences.

Those interested in taking the exam at the ESCP Annual Meeting in Vienna in September need to apply by the 27 June 2019.

Candidates that successfully pass the examination will be awarded the Diploma of EBSQ (Coloproctology) of the European Union of Medical Specialists and receive the title ‘Fellow of the European Board of Coloproctology’.

David Zimmerman, a long standing member of the ESCP Education Committee member, said:

“The EBSQ Examination is a prestigious qualification that gives testament to the high-level knowledge and skills of the candidates. It is an excellent opportunity for younger surgeons who are starting their career in colorectal surgery and looking to sharpen their professional profile.”

Applicants must have at least seven years of specialist surgical training and prove themselves to be one of the opinion leaders in the field of coloproctology in their home countries to be considered for the EBSQ Exam. The exam itself asks candidates to demonstrate an in-depth knowledge of all colorectal and coloproctological diseases, including the current literature on these topics.

The candidate who completes the EBSQ Exam with the highest score will have the honour to be awarded with the Lars Påhlman medal, established by the ESCP. The EBSQ Examination is highly regarded and has gained professional recognition and value in several countries. Holding the EBSQ is also considered an advantage when applying for an ESCP Fellowship.
