The ESCP is delighted to announce a change in the fellowship schedule for the forthcoming year 2015-2016. Applications have now closed for three distinctive types of fellowships:
- 2 x six month fellowships
- 4 x three month fellowships
- 4 x two-four week observerships
The aim of these fellowships is to assist European surgeons currently training in coloproctology to undertake a visit to a centre in a different country in Europe. Preference will be given to applications to travel to a different region within Europe.
ESCP will award the 4 three-month fellowship and 4 observership places on a regional basis:
- One place for an applicant from ESCP’s Eastern region
- One place for an applicant from ESCP’s Western region
- One place for an applicant from ESCP’s Central region
- One place for an applicant from outside of Europe

The 2 six-month fellowships will be awarded following an interview process at ESCP Dublin in September 2015.
Eligibility criteria
Successful applicants will be people who demonstrate potential for achieving a leadership position in colon and rectal surgery or proctology, and fulfil the following criteria:
- Are a paid-up member of ESCP (i.e. Full, Trainee, Affiliate)
- Have training in general surgery for a minimum of 5 years
- Are senior trainees or consultants at an early stage of their career
- Have a manifested interest in coloproctology as evidenced by practice, teaching, research or writings
- Can clearly define the benefit to be gained from this experience
Application deadline
Applications must have been submitted to the ESCP Secretariat by Wednesday 27th May 2015 at 10:00 (CEST). Submitted applications will be reviewed by the ESCP Education Committee.
