Each year ESCP offers its members who are currently training in coloproctology centres the opportunity to visit clinical, teaching and research coloproctology centres of excellence in a different country in Europe.
The overall objective is to support and develop trainees who have the potential to achieve a future leadership position in colon and rectal surgery or proctology.
All our fellowship candidates are required to complete a robust application and interview process which ensures a high standard. Last year, the number and calibre of applications was extremely high, making the selection of the best candidates very challenging.
This year ESCP is offering 10 fellowship placements to candidates and we are keen to continue to develop the programme further. Fellowships placements are offered on the following basis, and are normally taken up from late autumn onwards:
- 2-4 week observership
- 3 month fellowship
- 6 month fellowship
We would like to invite coloproctology centres across Europe who have the facilities and resources available, the opportunity to be involved in the programme this year.
Please note that host centres participate in the programme on a voluntary basis, and this is very much appreciated by ESCP.
To register as a Host Centre
To express your interest in becoming a fellowship host centre and to provide further details of your centre and the training opportunities available, we would be grateful if you could complete the online questionnaire.
New Fellowship Opportunity for 2016
We are also introducing a new fellowship opportunity for trainees from non-EU, developing countries this year for the first time. We would therefore like potential host centres to consider this, and to indicate in their response to us whether they would be willing to support a non-EU fellow at their centre.
If you have any questions about the ESCP fellowship programme this year then please do not hesitate to contact us at
